‘Praytn’ -Ek koshish
Education is an important part of a developed country , society and mankind per se. One of the important functions of education is to sensitize children about their commitment and responsibility towards the society in which they thrive. Empathy and humanitarian values are an important part where the schools can act as a force multiplier to develop such values in the children. Working towards the same, Delhi Public world School Alwar organized an event ‘Praytn’ -Ek koshish ,spear headed by the children under the able guidance of the teachers. Children of the school saved money, made hand craft items and sold them to collect money for the needy ones. To develop the culture of voluntary services towards society in children,
the children from classes V to VIII visited ‘ Apna Ghar Ashram ‘and served food to the people there. Children felt elated to help the people at Ashram. The day could not have been better as it was Mother Teresa’s Birthday. In the end, children were told about the founders of the organization ‘Apna Ghar Ashram’. Children were motivated to work towards the development and upliftment of society. It was a memorable experience for the children.
All the students returned from Ashram with mixed emotions, where there was a feeling of triumph for having served the elderly ,there was also a feeling of remorse as they were exposed to the problems being faced by the abandoned elderly people of the society.
This had a positive effect on the children as they were already discussing as to what and how they can contribute towards overcoming the problem.
It was indeed a pleasure to see our own PRAYTN-ek koshish , being
successful !!
